Buhari mourns ace mathematician, scholar, Kuku
The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (Retired), on Tuesday sent his condolences to the family of renowned mathematician and scientist, Professor Aderemi Kuku, on the passing of the scholar and administrator, whose work, has he says, will continue to be seen as a testament to diligence and brilliance.
The President’s Special Adviser for Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, disclosed this in a statement he signed on Tuesday titled “President Buhari mourns famous math teacher, Aderemi Oluyomi Kuku”.
According to Adesina, “President Buhari joins academia, in Nigeria and abroad, in mourning the researcher and publisher, who became a full professor of mathematics in 1982, at the age of 41, and has consistently contributed to worldwide knowledge, serving at various times as President. of the African Mathematical Union, Member of the Development and Trade Commission of the International Mathematical Union and President of the African Academy of Sciences.
“The President notes that the late researcher’s drive and love of knowledge has earned him numerous accolades and awards, including the National Order of Merit of Nigeria, Nigeria’s highest honor for academic excellence, Officer of the ‘Order of Niger, Fellow of the American Mathematical Society, Fellow of the Mathematical Association of Nigeria and Fellow of the World Academy of Sciences.
Buhari prayed for the rest of the soul of the deceased and the comfort of God for his family.
