This weekend: historian, WWII wasp expert, author and pilot, Katherine Landdeck is about to show up at the Lone Star Flight Museum for a talk and book signing.

HOUSTON, Texas (May 15, 2022) – The Lone Star Flight Museum will welcome Katherine Landdeck to the museum on Saturday May 21 to give a talk and participate in a book signing, promoting his acclaimed book, women with silver wings, now available in a variety of bookstores and online.

women with silver wings is the inspiring true story of the Women Air Force Service Pilots (WASPs) of World War II. The book follows the WASPs from the golden age of aviation in the 1930s, through the war years, and into their post-war lives. Landdeck features the women who flew the fastest planes of WWII, cheers them on as they fight not to be forgotten, and shares their stories to inspire others.

WHAT: Landdeck will give a talk on the book with questions and answers, followed by a signing session. Books are available for purchase in the museum shop.

The talk and book signing are included with a general admission ticket. Museum members are free.

About the Author

Katherine Sharp Landdeck is an associate professor of history at Texas Woman’s University, the home of the WASP archives. Guggenheim Fellow at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum and a graduate of the University of Tennessee, where she was a Normandy Fellow and earned her Ph.D. in American History, Landdeck has received numerous awards for her work on the WASP and has appeared as an expert on NPR morning edition, PBS and the History Channel. His work has been published in The Washington Post, Atlanticand Weather, as well as in numerous academic and aeronautical publications. Landdeck is a licensed pilot who flies whenever she can.
